George H. Fletcher has been the senior pastor of First Baptist Church since February 2001. He has pastored a total of four churches since 1978.

George received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Virginia in 1975 and the master of divinity degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1978. He also completed a unit of clinical pastoral education. He and his wife Peggy have been married thirty-four years. They have two children and two grandchildren. Bryan, their oldest, lives in Richmond with his wife Jenifer and daughters Natalie and Madalyn. Jonathan is single and lives in Los Angeles.

George's hobbies include most sports, especially golf, basketball, and walking.
